(The City State of New Lazlo)
To the north of New Lazlo, a raging forest fire threatens the nearby communities, and New Lazlo urgently requires assistance to combat the spreading flames. Once the heroes successfully bring the fires under control, they seek respite at a renowned establishment called ‘The Thundering Hand,’ owned by a retired RPA Pilot named Thor. Here, they learn about a wave of assassinations and attacks that have left New Lazlo on the brink of collapse. While City Officials are conducting investigations, they are keeping the true details of the crimes concealed from the public eye.
Unmasking the Deception
Lindon Humes, a local resident and expert, approaches the adventurers. Spending much of his time at ‘The Hand,’ Lindon’s recent change in demeanor has caught the attention of those frequenting the establishment. Lindon, a Vagabond, possesses firsthand knowledge of the Xitixic and the Duluth Hive, acquired during a previous expedition with the Lazlo Expedition aimed at exterminating these hives. However, Lindon harbors a secret he is unwilling to disclose. What Lindon fails to reveal is that his childhood friend, Kifu, is responsible for the attacks. Kifu, a local Techno-Wizard, has spent the past few months delving into forbidden research, seeking to become a ‘Seduced.’ Lindon, along with Kifu’s former girlfriend, Muse Vose, has discovered that Kifu has aligned himself with a faction devoted to the True Federation of Magic. Their actions have hindered the city’s progress in technology and magic, negatively impacting commercial opportunities. Lindon suspects that Kifu and his Dunscon Loyalist comrades have sought refuge in the Duluth Hive, where they believe exclusive knowledge of these artifacts resides. Realizing the weight of his silence and feeling responsible for the attacks and murders, Lindon now desires to assist in apprehending his friend.
Tracking the Shadowy Agenda
Kifu and his group of Dunscon Loyalists are conducting guerrilla operations from a concealed dugout within the Duluth Hive. Their base, cleverly camouflaged with natural materials, remains hidden from Xiticix Patrols. However, Kifu has started to doubt his commitment to the conversion process of becoming a Seduced Techno-Wizard. Despite his reservations, he is coerced by a diabolical Techno-Wizard named Ekon, who leads the group. Ekon is accompanied by a small band of Techno-Wizards and a mysterious figure known as Enestrum. While appearing as a Mystic, Enestrum is, in fact, a D-Bee Shifter with a connection to the God Thanatos. The adventurers must now track down Kifu and his cohorts, putting an end to their dark agenda and uncovering the truth behind their actions.
