Rifts World Book 2 Atlantis Review

A lot gets added in Rifts World book 2 Atlantis, new magic options, OCCs, bio-wizardry, and more. I use Atlanteans so often that Atlantis seems part of the Ultimate Edition. I absolutely love the additions that Rifts Atlantis adds to the Rifts roleplaying game.

Rifts Atlantis brings the Splugorth to life on Rifts Earth. The book also offers 20 player races, Rune Magic, and rune items. What new options does it give a GM?

Rifts world book 2 atlantis

Rifts® Atlantis is an alien civilization transplanted to Earth.

It is a multi-dimensional kingdom inhabited by monstrous aliens dominated by the Splugorth. Ley lines are tapped by giant, mystic pyramids. Anything and anybody can be bought or sold at the Dimensional Market at Splynn, while the city of Dragcona serves as a haven for dragons and supernatural beings. Located in the southern mountains is the Gargoyle Kingdom and to the north is the Valley of Wonders. Alien creatures lay claim to the land and others are sold at the trans-dimensional slave markets.

The Splugorth and their minions are described, complete with attributes and full statistics. They include the High Lords, Conservators (bio-borg), Overlords, Powerlords, Slavers, Sunaj Assassins, and others. There are new magic O.C.C.s, new player character races, ancient Atlanteans, bio-wizardry, and much more.

Rifts World Book 2 Gm Material

Atlantis offers a plethora of options to use all over the world. It gives information on the Splugorth on Rifts Earth which can be used in small groups or large. If you want to mix things up then you can enslave the PCs and throw them into the Atlantis arena or off-world. Other things also exist.

You can also use a random encounter table to throw a curve ball at your players while in the Bermuda Triangle.

Our recommendations of the best Rifts books for a Minion War game.

World book 2 Atlantis Player Material

Tattoo magic, Bio-wizard equipment, Rune weapons, Atlantean Pyramids, and gems with powers, what more could you ask for? My favorite part of the book is the Atlantean RCC as it offers a solid superman feel without being too overpowering to a game.

If you are looking to increase your character’s powers then you could potentially go to Atlantis and take advantage of the bio-wizard augmentation. It’s expensive and could have side effects but it’s an option for some really good upgrades.

Looking for credits? There are some bounties available by the Splugorth for killing vampires in Atlantis and/or finding the Vampire nest and giving the location to the Splugorth.

Story material from Rifts Atlantis

The Splugorth takes control of Atlantis after it returns to Rifts Earth (as to why it left I’ll let you read that). After they take control of it there are many rumors regarding what is going on with it. You can use these to generate a lot of different game types. The first rumor is that a single Alien Intelligence rules all of Atlantis and perhaps other worlds too. Another is that Atlantis is a haven for Vampires. If you know Splugorth you know they hate vampires so which is it?

There is a gargoyle kingdom in the south part of Atlantis with nearly 2.5 million swearing allegiances to Splynncrynth. The Splugorth have been allied to gargoyles for centuries though only recently having added them as official minions. They are allowed to govern themselves though they are rather primitive settlements.

Rifts Atlantis originatlity

There isn’t much from Atlantis that I don’t find original, or at least useful. The continent, OCCs, races and stories from the book are all quite useful for game creation.

Is Rifts World book 2 game breaking

Some things can be game-breaking if you let them be. Bio-wizardry can create a bio-borg which can be wholely disgusting. Tattoos can create a magically powered human that becomes MDC. Eyes of Eylor have tons of options you can create with them. Rune items can be incredibly powerful.

How good are Rifts Atlantis’ occs

There are several OCCs that come from the book. The Stone master occ is a really interesting option, as it can create pyramids, empower gems, and move lots of stones. Unfortunately, though they are often rather static. In order for a stone master to be at their best, they need to build stone pyramids which takes a long time.

My favorite occs are those that can travel more often with an adventuring party. The T-monster men occ and the maxi man occ are really fun options. There are so many options for tattoos to create a unique tattoo user.

The other occ is that of a traitor Kittani(a slave race to the Spuglorth). Several variations of the Kittani occ are available. While I don’t care much for the occ I’m sure there could be fun options to play it.

How well does Atlantis mix with the core book

Rifts Atlantis mixes very well with the main book. Allowing you to play an Atlantean Rcc is a great change in pace. The Splugorth slavers offer a lot of options for bringing new races to Rifts Earth. If you want to roll up race using Phase World and then introduce them to Rifts Earth, an escaped slave is one option.
