Rifts Adventure Sourcebook Chi-Town Burbs: Forbidden Knowledge outlines and develops the Burbs. It includes a description of the rebels, spies, criminals, and notorious villains in actions against the Coalition States.

Forbidden Knowledge Sourcebook has a lot of setting information for the GM to utilize. It can be used to create many adventure hooks with all the information in each area. In addition, there is a Chi-town burb called Firetown that has its own adventure pre-made. The initial adventure plot is that a Mind melter is looking for her sister. The sad side of the story is that her parents didn’t know how difficult the burbs would be. This gives many opportunities for players to get involved, with multiple example directions to go with this mind melter and players. Included with the adventure is a handy town map, NPCs written up and many of the shops and stores already detailed.

There isn’t a lot of information presented here that is directly related to player characters. Players could benefit from having their own copy of the map of Firetown and NPC references if the GM allows that. Also, players could use it to better understand the different areas of the burbs.

This book is rather short being only 49 pages long. This is definitely a book I would put at the bottom of my to-get list solely on the page length count. What is offered within the book is fairly short and only really benefits a GM. That said it does help to expound on the central Coalition States city of Chi-Town.

21 towns/cities are presented within the book including Firetown. Some of the towns within are only 6 months or so old while others are over 50 years old.

There is a section for slang used in the Chi-Town Burbs.

Rifts Adventure Sourcebook Forbidden Knowledge Originality

I find each town or city has a great individual flair. The expanded information makes the burbs seem like a more intriguing place to create adventure arcs going from one to the next.

Is Rifts Adventure Sourcebook Chi-Town Burbs Game Breaking

Nothing presented is game-breaking. This is a good book for those wanting to get a better idea as to why the Coalition has restrictions on magic and technology.

None are presented. If you want some NPC examples it does have a few that could be useful.

How Well Does It Mix With The Core Book

A fantastic addition to the Rifts Ultimate especially if you are starting out with new players in Rifts. For those used to highly contained roleplaying game settings, this book would really help maintain that feel while giving many more questing grounds for the players.
